How To Make A Paper Lantern

Paper lanterns are quite popular to make for Vesak Festival in Sri Lanka. They also can be used for Chines New Year and Christmas. They are quite easy to make. So let's get started. 

Supplies Needed

• Colored Paper
• Scissor
• Ruler
• Glue
• Pencil

Step 1

Start with your color A4. Fold it in half, length wise. Draw a horizontal line 1 inch from the long edge, opposite the fold.

Step 2

Cut a straight line  about 1 inch starting from the folded edge up to the horizontal line. Continue to cut more straight lines until you reach to the opposite side of the short edge.

Step 3

Unfold the paper.

Step 4

Decorate your lantern.

Step 5

                                                                

Form the paper into tube shape. Glue top and bottom corners and stick them.

Step 6

Glue on the handle and paste it.

Voila! Isn't it so easy?
