Papier Mâché has to be one of the coolest technique for making a mask. This can be used at Halloween party or costume party...
There are different ways out there to make Papier Mâché. And remember it requires no professionalism and this is something very fascinating.........
Materials needed
- A Balloon
- News papers
- Solid papers like printing papers
- Some flour
- Some Water
- A bowl
Step 1...
Inflate the balloon till it comes to the size of your head.
Step 2...
Rip the papers into strips.
Step 3...
Create the paste by adding 220g flour and 200ml water. If you don't have flour you can use 2 parts white glue and one part water. Mix it well.
Step 4...
Dip the piece of paper in to the paste. Let it soak. Wipe off the excess on the rim of bowl.
Step 5...
Stick it on the balloon. Then repeat. The first layer should be placed vertically. Don't cover the mouth piece
Step 6...
Place the second layer horizontally.
Step 7...
Place the last layer with the printing papers vertically. And leave it on the side to dry. This may take several hours.
Step 8...
Once dried, pop the balloon with the needle.
Step 9...
Draw a line in the middle all the way around.
Step 10...
Cut on line using scissors.
Step 11...
Draw eyes and nose and start cutting.
Step 12
Paint the mask. This may need your artistic twist.
You can use a gallon jug instead of balloon. All you want to do is cut the gallon jug in half and cut out holes for the eyes and mouth. You can use the handle as the nose. And continue from step 2.
